Proud Daughter

This past weekend, I was in Delaware at the request of my mother. You see, for the past year or so, she has been dancing with a Wilmington dancing school, and now was the time for her recital. Well I went, and I was so very impressed with how my mother gracefully moved across the stage. My mom was dancing with the best of ’em at the recital. She was in 3 of the dances, and she even had some cameo moments (not the “Word Up” Cameo, but some spotlight moments). On top of that, she looked flawless! It looks like getting better with time is in the genes!!!!

By the way, they only let you take one photo without flash photography during the performance, so this was as good as it was going to get on Saturday… she is the one in yellow right in the center. Go Mom! Go Mom!

I’m Thankful For…

Yesterday, a friend of mine asked me what I was thankful for. Oh my, there are so many things on that list, like:

a wonderful place to stay
a meaningful job
many supportive coworkers
a thriving business
loving family
caring and available friend
hope for my future
money in the bank
the opportunity to be selective about what I eat
a closet full and drawers full of clothes
reliable transportation
SO MUCH MORE!!!!!!!!

I could go on about things small and large, but indulge me please to share just one more. And that is being blessed to spend time with precious little ones, like this cutie pie – my name’s sake – Victoria Faith Payne, who just turned 2!

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to photograph a high school senior at the Fransiscan Monastery in Washington, DC. This venue is absolutely stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for these senior portraits. I was able to capture a few shots with her and her mother as well!

Please consider helping Ms. Payne and Ms. Braxon’s 3rd and 2nd grade classes raise money for a bus to Great Falls National Park in McClean, VA. By scheduling this promotional mini portrait session for $100 during the next two weeks, you will help Ms. Payne’s class raise $180 for this bus with the proceeds.

Portrait sessions are 30 minutes and can include up to 4 people. The price covers the sitting fee plus a CD with edited images from the session. Additional time and products can be added for an additional fee. Portrait dates will be between May 25th and June 3rd.

Tribute to all the Mothers Out There!

Let me start with a disclaimer. I have probably taken in excess of 200,000 photographs since I have had a digital camera (2006), so despite all of my best intentions, I was unable to go through every photo I’ve taken since then. There are many beautiful mothers that I have photographed that I was unable to include in my collage. Charge it to the late hour and not my heart (please).

Nevertheless, I wanted to say a special Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there who continue to provide for and sacrifice for their families and children! Remember, children are a blessing from the Lord! Happy Mother’s Day!
